Professional Activities and Organizations
Gary is a Board member and Legal Counsel to the John Howard Society of Niagara . He has been active on the Board since 1981, and is a Past-President. He is also a Director of the Prevent Challenge Foundation; a charity which funds programs directed towards the development of young persons. He is also the Past President of the Niagara Business Association, a member of the Lincoln County Law Association, the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Royal Canadian Legion, and has been a coach with St. Catharines Concord Soccer Club since 1990.
Background
Gary has been a senior partner in the Chown, Cairns Litigation Department since 1988. His practice in the civil litigation field includes motor vehicle accidents, insurance law, disability claims, and personal injuries. Although he has a great deal of experience as a trial lawyer, he often employs alternate dispute resolution procedures such as mediation and arbitration, to resolve cases whenever practicable. Gary has argued numerous cases before the Ontario Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal.
